Other Ways to Give
Beyond a one-time gift, there are more ways to support His Hands on Africa. Some can even save you on taxes.
Stock & Appreciated Securities
Give appreciated stock, mutual funds, or other securities directly to His Hands on Africa instead of selling them yourself. Because you're transferring the asset rather than cashing it out, you may be able to avoid paying capital gains tax on the appreciation — and you can generally deduct the full fair market value of the gift if you itemize. It's often a smarter way to give than writing a check, especially if you've held the investment for more than a year. Ask your broker to transfer shares directly to our brokerage account, or contact us and we'll walk you through it.
Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) Grants
If you already have a donor-advised fund through your bank, brokerage, or a community foundation, recommending a grant to His Hands on Africa is simple — just log into your DAF sponsor's portal, search for us by name or EIN, and submit the grant request. The funds you contributed to your DAF were likely already tax-deductible in the year you gave them, so a grant from the fund lets your generosity keep working without any additional tax paperwork on your end. It's one of the easiest ways to support our work if you're already using a DAF for other giving.
IRA Charitable Rollover (QCD)
If you're 70½ or older, you can give directly from your IRA to His Hands on Africa through a Qualified Charitable Distribution. The gift transfers straight from your IRA custodian to us, so it isn't counted as taxable income to you — and if you're at the age where you must take required minimum distributions, a QCD can satisfy some or all of that requirement. There's an annual limit on how much you can give this way (it's adjusted each year, so check with your IRA custodian or tax advisor for the current figure). It's a popular option for donors who want to give generously without increasing their taxable income.
Legacy & Planned Giving
A gift in your will, trust, or estate plan costs you nothing today but leaves a lasting mark on the communities we serve for years to come. You can name His Hands on Africa as a beneficiary of your will, retirement account, life insurance policy, or trust — often with just a sentence added to an existing document. Planned gifts, no matter the size, help us plan further ahead and take on work we couldn't otherwise commit to. If you're considering this kind of gift, we'd love to hear from you so we can make sure your wishes are honored and thank you properly.
