The Dental Mission

Dental Clinics

Compassion Community Dental Clinics (CCDC)

At the heart of Rwanda’s Bugesera district, our first Compassion Community Dental Clinic opened in 2020 within Nyamata District Hospital. Serving nearly 500,000 people, the clinic quickly became a beacon of excellence, earning the hospital’s “Best Department of the Year” award in 2022.

With a dedicated team of dentists, dental therapists, interns, and students, CCDC delivers high-quality, state-of-the-art care rarely found in public hospitals in Rwanda. Many of our patients come from rural villages where access to dental care is limited by distance, finances, and a lack of awareness about preventative health.

From routine cleanings to life-saving procedures, we provide compassionate care for all. Unlike other options where tooth extraction is often the only solution, our clinic offers comprehensive treatments to address infections, injuries, and complex needs.

We’re committed to ensuring every Rwandan has access to exceptional dental care. As we grow, we plan to establish additional clinics in strategic locations, bringing hope and healing to more communities across the country.

Satellite Clinics

Bringing care to the heart of Rwanda’s most remote villages, our satellite clinics bridge the gap for communities with little to no access to dental services. In 2022, we partnered with the Ministry of Health to open our first satellite clinic at the Ngeruka Health Center.

HHOA provided the construction, dental equipment, and instruments, while the Ministry deployed a skilled dental therapist to serve the nearly 100,000 residents in the surrounding area. These clinics offer essential services such as cleanings, fillings, and non-surgical extractions—helping to prevent serious health complications before they

arise. Through this ongoing partnership, we’re making basic dental care accessible to those who need it most. With each new satellite clinic, we’re one step closer to transforming dental care for underserved communities across Rwanda.

Our dental staff travels with portable dental equipment into remote communities to enable more people to receive crucial care. On average, a Rwandan living in these villages typically travels over 10 miles for medical or dental intervention by walking, biking, or taking a bus. This journey is difficult for children, nursing mothers, the elderly, and those who are disabled.  By making access easier, patients who would otherwise forego treatment are given a solution. We serve hundreds of people at a time through our mobile clinics.

Our mobile team also serves at community outreaches which are focused on providing preventative services suchas screenings, cleanings, and sealants while also using this time to share the Good News of Jesus. HHOA is committed to sharing the hope and healing of Jesus, both physically and spiritually.

Bringing Dental Care to the Unreachable

In a district of nearly 500,000 people, there is only one public dental clinic at Nyamata District Hospital. Tragically, the lack of accessible dental care costs lives. In 2021, a young, pregnant woman with a severe infection died in the dental chair after traveling a grueling distance to reach help—her death was entirely preventable.

To honor her memory and raise awareness, we launched The Run for the One, a fundraiser highlighting the immense challenges Rwandans face to access even basic dental care. Participants run 14 miles, symbolizing the journey many endure for treatment.

Dental Organization for semi-annual outreach events, reachingremote communities and underserved populations. Our team adaptsto unique needs—whether it’s treating children at a nursery school or addressing complex adult cases—ensuring no one is left behind. With every outreach, we’re bridging the gap, bringing hope, and saving lives.
